In seven days time the orchestral practice workshops will start, with 60 children between 8 and 14 years of age, from 12 different municipalities of Mallorca, have already registered.
From the 9th to 14th of July, Felanitx and more specifically the Conservatory of Music of Felanitx, will become the epicenter of the talent of young Mallorcan musicians. For five days, a total of 60 children will receive music lessons, in the morning (from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) and in the afternoon (from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.), by teachers specialized in the Venezuelan System of Orchestras created by the Maestro José Antonio Abreu, recently deceased. These are Ángel Hernández (composer, violinist and orchestra conductor), Angélica Martínez (double bass teacher), Jacinto Herrera (oboe and English horn) and José Oswaldo Parra (trombone). On Saturday, November 14th, a general rehearsal and a closing concert will be held at the Felanitx Auditorium.
The following instruments will be represented among all the registered students: euphonium, clarinet, double bass, bassoon, flute, percussion, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, viola, violin and cello.
This new project of the Barceló Foundation aims to promote music, the search for new talents on the island and a motivation for today’s youth.
