The Mallorcan Foundation publishes the summary of activities for the year 2017, during which it carried out a total of 115 humanitarian aid projects in 25 different countries, with an investment of more than 2 million euros and a total of 272,000 beneficiaries, most of them (218.000) in the health area.
It is worth mentioning the FARMASOL project, Solidarity Pharmacies and Health Education, managed directly by the Barceló Foundation, which launched 6 new projects in Africa, which have meant an increase of 32% of the beneficiaries in relation to 2016.
Also the ALISOL project, Solidarity Foods, destined to the donation of perishable foods (vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, etc.) to people in situation of real need in Mallorca, that experienced an increase of 15% thanks to the extension of the arable land of the SON BARCELÓ farm, owned by the foundation in Felanitx. Last year, more than 160 tons of fresh food was delivered to a total of 14 charitable associations on the island, reaching more than 2,300 beneficiaries a week.
It highlights the launch of the second call for social projects, which achieved great success of participation, and in which aid was granted to 32 charities on the island, including the Rana Foundation, 3 Salut Mental or the AMITICIA Association. This second call was endowed with 300,000 euros and managed to benefit some 1,500 people.
Finally, the report also includes that the Barceló Foundation ranks second in the ranking of Transparency of the main Spanish family Foundations, according to the latest report “Build Confidence 2017”, prepared by the Commitment and Transparency Foundation.
