More than 400 Haitian children have benefited from the water, sanitation and hygiene project developed by the Foundation and the Union of Leaders for Development (UCAD).
The objective has been to build 2 latrines with 3 cabins, a washbasin, a water tower and a drinking water well in two schools: the Bon Berger school in Terre Rouge and the Mixed Primary School in Coin, both located in the community of Saint Jean de Sud, where school sanitation conditions reveal contamination by pathogenic microorganisms.
After analyzing the proposal, the Barceló Foundation decided to finance 50% of the budget, since hundreds of children were exposed to these poor basic living conditions and it was essential to stop the resurgence of the cholera epidemic that was seriously affecting the country.
To contribute as much as possible to improving the health and nutrition conditions of the neediest people in the poorest countries is one of the main objectives of the Barceló Foundation, and hygiene and water supply are essential for the prevention of diseases.
