The Mallorcan choir reaped great successes with Verdi’s Requiem, in the concerts offered last weekend both in Palma and in Ibiza.
The first concert was performed on Friday the 5th at the Church of Santa Creu, in Palma. The Capella with the Orquestra Clàssica de Mallorca and the Cor Ciutat d’Eivissa, offered a vibrant performance under the direction of maestro José Maria Moreno. The soloists Carmen Solís, María Luisa Corbacho, Gustavo Peña and Armando Piña (all of them of international renown) demonstrated their enormous vocal quality. More than 800 people attended the performance and gave a great ovation to the artists at the end of the concert.
On Saturday morning all the interpreters moved to Ibiza where they offered two more concerts of Verdi’s Requiem on Sunday, the 7th. The concerts are part of the 25th anniversary of the Ciutat d’Eivissa and at the same time, from the recent Ramón Llull Award obtained by the Balearic Government.
The two concerts offered in Ibiza had a large influx of audiences (more than 1,000 spectators) and served to demonstrate once again the great vocal quality of all the components of both corals.
It is not the first time that Capella has performed in Ibiza since, during her long artistic career, she has performed numerous concerts in Ibiza and in Formentera, both alone and with the Orchestra and the Cor Ciutat d’Eivissa.
