The Foundation presents the “First Orchestral Youth Encounter” that will take place from July 9 -14, 2018 at the Conservatori Professional de Música de Felanitx, to enhance the musical talent of young Mallorcan people.
Promoted and sponsored by the Foundation, organized by the Conservatori Professional de Música de Felanitx and with the collaboration of the Ajuntament de Felanitx, the contest is aimed at music students from 8 to 14 years old, living on the island and who play any of the symphonic instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, violin, viola, cello, double bass and percussion.
The meeting will consist of intensive workshops of orchestral practice, led by musicians of recognized international trajectory and professors specialized in orchestral pedagogy within the System of Orchestras of Venezuela, such as Ángel Hernández or Angélica Martínez. This system devised by the maestro José Antonio Abreu is an exemplary educational and artistic project throughout the world and there are many musicians of international prestige who have been trained with this method, such as Gustavo Dudamel, Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
After the “Ciutat de Felanitx Music Contest”, with this new activity, the Barceló Foundation will once again place Felanitx (the birthplace of the Barceló family) as a benchmark for the national music scene.
The registration period is now open, so all those interested have until June 17 (included) to sign up the form that can be found on the website of the Conservatori Professional de Música de Felanitx (www.musicafelanitx.org) organizer of the event.
